Psychotherapy may not be for everyone. But here is a description of my specialties so you can decide if you're interested.

Psychotherapy

"As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm.  Jump.  It is not as wide as you think."  From a Native American initiation rite

One type of therapy I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  Through a system of goal oriented practices we will work together to get your life back on track.  Whether you need help with codependency, communication, or self esteem; therapy can help.  However, I often use a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems to help individuals and couples access parts of themselves that they may otherwise have trouble working on.

Adult Individual Therapy: In order to create a lasting change for the future, a mixture of problem-solving techniques are used to construct happier, healthier, balanced lives.  Ultimately, we can discuss anything that is bothering you or causing you stress or discomfort.  Together, we will set little goals and work toward them one week at a time.  Ideally this will result in larger goals being recognized.  Once this is done, reconstruction of who you are can begin to take shape.

Couples Therapy:  Many stresses can put relationships off balance.  Together we can talk about affairs, addictions, ex-partners, blended families, grief/loss, and major life transitions.  These and many other stresses can create secondary issues that can push you apart from the one you love.  If you have found that your relationship is in need of a tune up, let me help you learn to communicate more effectively, clarify and express needs, learn to hear, build trust, and boundaries, and recover intimacy.
